joan robinson
Joan began writing plays as a member of a touring ensemble, including children’s plays commissioned by the N.J. State Museum and by a dentist. Since then, she has been commissioned by the Vt. Dept. of Libraries to write a one-woman show of Ms. Frizzle which she then performed throughout Vermont, the Sheldon Museum (”Remember Me to All Good Folks: Vermont Voices from the Civil War"), and the Flynn Center (“Bigger than All of Us” in honor of its 25th anniversary). Joan worked at the Flynn Center for 18 years as education director and associate director for school programs, and there created Words Come Alive! and established FlynnArts. She is currently the drama coach at the Integrated Arts Academy (IAA) and a teaching artist for the Flynn Center. Both at the Flynn and IAA, she has worked with people of all ages to create countless original plays springing from improvisation.

"I felt lucky to have Joan as CVU's teaching playwright this year. Her engagement with students is genuine, empowering, fun-loving, and personal. She was effective in both giving information, jump starting conversations, and leading us into varied, meaningful activities." |
